A lot has changed in the 45 years since my Grandparents opened the first Weathervane Seafood Restaurant in a small take-out stand in Kittery, Maine. While life as we know it has been turned upside down thanks to the evolution of computers, the Internet and smartphones, one thing that hasn’t changed over the years is our dedication to following the Weathervane promise of providing each and every guest with great tasting food and drink at a fair price. This emphasis we’ve placed on guest satisfaction and the tireless work ethic our employees display day-in and day-out have propelled us to become New England’s favorite seafood restaurant.

Something for Everyone
Whether a teenager or in college, married with children or retired and relaxed, there’s something for everyone at Weathervane Seafood Restaurants. Each of our locations offers a Kids Menu. In addition, our locations offer $1.99 Kid’s Meals every Wednesday, are known to give out toys and prizes, offer ice cream sundae bars and welcome magicians as surprise entertainers. Our older guests enjoy our restaurants for the affordably priced seafarer dinners, our Claw Club loyalty program, and thirty items under $10, and if you’re a twenty-something just looking to grab a beer in a casual setting, our restaurants feature a fully stocked bar, happy hour specials and the freshest appetizer menu in the area. Our seasonal Lobster in the Rough locations are also ideal for grabbing a few beverages and a quick bite to eat after a long day of work with great views and the friendliest staff.
Affordably Priced
Providing our guests with quality food at an affordable price is a tradition we’ve been unwilling to break throughout our time in the restaurant business. Much of our menu costs less than $10. Our guests’ favorite, the World Famous Fish and Chips, is still only $8.69. Our premium items are packed with value as well, such as our Broiled Haddock dinner for $14.99 and fried1/2 & 1/2 combination dinners starting at $14.99. We don’t skimp on the portions either and anyone who has dined with us will tell you that they usually head home with leftovers.
Our Batter is Better
Our menu has truly evolved over the years, but our commitment to providing the best seafood in New England has never wavered. Not only do we hand cut and hand batter all of our fried dinners and appetizers to order, but our batter and chowder are the original ones used by Ray and Bea Gagner when they opened the first Weathervane restaurant 45 years ago. Each of our locations offers a daily Fresh Catch that highlights locally sourced and sustainably caught seafood. Community Involvement
Our commitment to our community is, and has always been, a priority. Our seafood restaurant locations attempt to visit local schools each and every year to give Lobster Lore presentations that teach children not only the facts about what lobsters eat and where they live, but also the importance of the sustainability of lobsters and their impact on the environment and local economy. Each year Weathervane donates thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours to worthy charities including the Jimmy Fund, Make A Wish, Fuel and More and Making Strides organizations.
