Weathervane Seafood Restaurants Community Involvement Schedule – September

At Weathervane we always try and do more than just provide customers with the freshest New England seafood. Being a good neighbor in our communities means lending a helping hand to those in need. Each year Weathervane donates thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours to worthy charities. We are proud of our employees for volunteering their time for such important causes. Weathervane Seafood Restaurants gives back to the local communities in many different ways.

From winter fuel assistance to granting wishes to cancer research support, the Weathervane Seafood Restaurants have a big month planned ahead. Check out what’s going on this September!

September Events and Charities from Weathervane Seafood

September 6th:  Kittery, ME

The 7th Annual Riverdance at Weathervane Lobster in the Rough on Badgers Island to support Fuel & More. Fuel & More was founded in 2006 to help Kittery families with their heating needs. Our goal is to provide New England families at risk with one hundred gallons of fuel during the winter season. Most everyone who has asked for help has received it.

Thanks to individuals, local businesses, groups and fundraisers, the organization has raised and spent over $150,000 assisting approximately 500 families. For More information on this wonderful charity, visit fuelandmore.com.

September 9th:  Somersworth, NH

The 23rd Annual Weathervane Seafood’s Charity Golf Tournament at The Oaks. The money raised from this year’s tournament will once again go towards Make-A-Wish Maine and Make-A-Wish NH. Make-A-Wish helps grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.

The 2013 event raised over $14,000. We hope to raise even more this year.

Representatives from Make-A-Wish Maine will be on hand to help with the tournament. Weathervane Seafood Restaurants has been recognized as the largest contributor in the state of Maine and in 2012, was recognized by David Williams, president of Make-A-Wish America, for the commitment to their organization and to note that total donations were approaching $100,000 — a number that has now been passed!

Jeremy Gagner, Chief Operating Officer of Weathervane Seafood Restaurants said, “We have raised funds for Make-a-Wish Maine for the past 9 years and will continue to support them with the 2014 Tournament.  It is a pleasure to grant wishes and give hope to the children and families of our local communities at their greatest time of need. We could not do this without the support of our vendors, employees and friends who all help make the tournaments successful year after year. We thank all of them and The Make-A-Wish staff for helping to makes these wishes come true.”

September 21st: Boston, MA

Weathervane will serve chowder at the finish line of The Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk for the 23rd year in a row! This year, more than 6,500 walkers are expected to cross the finish line in Copley Square where Weathervane, along with several other restaurants and food companies will be feeding the tired and hungry participants. This charity walk raises more money than any single day walk in the country and has raised nearly $95 million for the fight against cancer.

At Weathervane, we firmly believe in community involvement. Visit our Community Involvement Page for more information.
